Jan. 22, 2020, 2:44 p.m. - TEAM 13 - we're at the hostel
Jan. 22, 2020, 11:38 a.m. - We've just changed trains in tortosa and are heading straight for valencia, we're also travelling in the same train as team 1 so we are hoping for a good run towards the hostel.
Jan. 22, 2020, 8:54 a.m. - After a 'fun' interaction with the Spanish rail police, we have tickets towards valencia and a recommendation to get out of here now. All is well, should be in valencia by 15:08.
Jan. 22, 2020, 7:30 a.m. - We've arrived in North Barcelona, currently walking south towards Barcelona sants, feeling tired but close
Jan. 21, 2020, 11:06 p.m. - Since our train was cancelled, we've caught the replacement bus service to barcelona, who'd have thought we'd be saved by a replacement bus service? We should be in Barcelona by 8am and hope to catch some ZZZs on the way down. Goodnight France, good morning Spain.
Jan. 21, 2020, 10:19 p.m. - After a nice train ride we are now in lyon, we've also got a bus lined up to barcelona and should be there by 7:30, ti's all great.
Jan. 21, 2020, 6:50 p.m. - Paris, C'est le pays du stress: the land of stress. We arrived around 4pm with intentions of heading to our train station: le gare du nord, or so we thought. After a nice 2 hour walk to the station we discovered that we discoverd the train we wanted was leaving from gate de lyon, which was about 10 mins from where we arrived, cue the running music, with loud shouts of ExSsiez moi we made a 55 min walk in 37 minutes. Now the real challenge, can we blag a train to Leon, after a long conversation with a billiter with little English and Liberal shaking of the yellow t-shirt, HUZAAH, to lyon we go, not a centime spent.
Paris Gate du Lyon - Lyon Perrache (no 7807)
Jan. 21, 2020, 3:41 p.m. - We are now in Paris, time to head across city towards the 19th which we have apparently decided to do by the smallest path beside the seine there is, Paris is looking very beautiful and we're feeling pretty good.
Jan. 21, 2020, 1:31 p.m. - All is over, we are tremendously distraught that we have not won. We are actually in pretty good spirits, the weather is lovely and this bus has even better tunes than a moto service station at 3am. Congratulations to team 6 for they're win. Don't think we won't make it, we are team Hayden's Love Life, we may not be first, but we will get there eventually with style.
Jan. 21, 2020, 11:18 a.m. - After a dreadful attempt at French with our non-English speaking bus driver, we are on the way to Paris with a reduced fare ticket. Cross-country for €6, don't get much better than that.
Jan. 21, 2020, 9:43 a.m. - The world had continued to not end, we are still in lile and have strong plans ahead to get through France. With teams converging on valencia, we may not be victorious, but we'll hopefully still do well enough to beat those still in lille. Feeling well rested, Valencia here we come.
Jan. 21, 2020, 5:35 a.m. - As orange light streams through the gap in the blinds we are hopeful for the apocalypse and not just a street light so we can get another couple of mins of sleep. Unfortunately the world has not ended and we are up and planning what to do next.
Jan. 20, 2020, 9:07 p.m. - We've gotten to lille, and travelled out to the only 24hr service station around, unfortunately it must be the 25th hour because its closed, however we managed to bag a cheap room in a hotel nearby that a couple of our fellow competitors were staying at.
Jan. 20, 2020, 6:18 p.m. - So there are no trains and no busses, and we are on a train towards lile? It's all very confusing but we are together, forever, together everyone. Confused yet happy, and Hayden's hair is still inexplicably beautiful.
Jan. 20, 2020, 4:53 p.m. - Well break out your favourite Nintendo console because, qui, we are en francais. We are just docking in calais and are all heading by bus to the local train station. Feeling French and in need of a good onion soup. Allons-y!
Jan. 20, 2020, 2:50 p.m. - With seemingly all of race2valencia trying to find a lift on Dover, and most of them being unsuccessful we've decided to buy foot passenger tickets and try and find someone to take us further on, on the boat. Thankfully the nice ticket agent gave us a reduced price for charitable causes. The white cliffs are still grey but we can smell the Croissants.
Jan. 20, 2020, 12:25 p.m. - Just waiting in Dover for a car to take us to France. At least the sign says Dover but the white cliffs seem awfully grey?
Jan. 20, 2020, 11:01 a.m. - HAYDEN'S Law - what you seek will not come till you no longer seek it. E. G. 15 hours in a service station with a sign saying 'dover' will give nothing, but the moment you write 'ANYWHERE, North? South?, we don't care', you get a lift to the port in Dover.
Jan. 20, 2020, 8:10 a.m. - Once again morning's cool breath moves us to layer up, these Race2 tshirts are certainly getting a stretching. We're still trying to get a lift from Thurrock Services towards Dover, lots of truck drivers who can't take us but we're still hopeful.
Jan. 19, 2020, 8:01 p.m. - Happy to have travelled so far with some very nice people and to have gathered some useful consumer advice: one, the burger King rebel burger is rubbish, and two, the fiat 500 is surprisingly spacious in the back. Would recommend.
Jan. 19, 2020, 5:48 p.m. - We may have been stacked like sardines before, but a fiat 500 is a new squeeze. Feeling happy and cozy
Jan. 19, 2020, 4:46 p.m. - After the rhythmic sounds of 'the longest suspension rope bridge in the country, maybe' we are relaxed and hopefully will make Dover by tonight
Jan. 19, 2020, 4:11 p.m. - On the road again, this time packed like sardines with literal fishing gear.
Jan. 19, 2020, 3:23 p.m. - The signs say Birmingham, the people seem to speak Welsh, and the voices in the fog are getting repetitive, otherwise all good, fed, and ready for the next journey.
Jan. 19, 2020, 1:48 p.m. - Still on the road down towards Birmingham, fog has reduced visibility to end of nose, but otherwise all good.
Jan. 19, 2020, 10:29 a.m. - We've met a lovely naval officer called Emily. Valencia here we come
Jan. 19, 2020, 8:04 a.m. - Cold, still in Glasgow. But spirits are high
