Jan. 22, 2020, 11:11 p.m. - ¡¡¡WE'VE DONE IT!!! After 4 days of hitchhiking, blagging, and trudging through 3 different countries we have made it to Valencia! A massive thank you to everyone who has helped us reach this far and to everyone who has donated to us you're all incredible and we couldn't be more grateful <3.
Team 28 signing off
Jan. 22, 2020, 9:10 p.m. - Team 28: still on an (incredibly hot) bus to Valencia - it's less than 50km away now whoop whoop
Jan. 22, 2020, 6:06 p.m. - On the bus to Valencia from Zaragoza after our BlaBlaCar cancelled on us last minute. Many many thanks to team 33 for telling us about the bus that was leaving at 7pm. Unfortunately, we were 40 minutes away from the station having coffee and cake in a lovely cafe at 6.30pm so we were forced to sprint halfway across the city to make the bus on time. But alas! We are safe and secure and 4 hours from a shower and a bed so it's looking up for us.
p.s. I'm starting to believe that Jose was secretly a Guardian Angel sent to guide us to Valencia as spiritual payment for the hell we endured in Arras.
Jan. 22, 2020, 3:46 p.m. - Team 28: WE LOVE JOSÉ. Simple as that. He drove us to a petrol station which is on a direct road to Valencia but it was super quiet and very snowy so he decided to turn us around and drive all the way back to Zaragoza, and he is also trying to ring a friend to see if they can take us to Valencia.... he is a God among men
Jan. 22, 2020, 1:46 p.m. - Update 2 Electric Boogaloo: Jose continues to be our absolute hero as he has moved his meeting in Pamplona to next week so that he can drop us off in Zaragoza a few hours earlier than originally planned. So so very grateful for his repeated kindness!
Jan. 22, 2020, 1:18 p.m. - Update: Jose has been kind enough to continue on his journey all the way to Zaragoza!
Jan. 22, 2020, 12:41 p.m. - Pulled over by the scary Spanish border control for no apparent reason... Luckily Jose seems to be in control of the situation.
Jan. 22, 2020, 12:31 p.m. - Hope was fading away when Alas! Jose came to the rescue and is driving us to Pamplona! Over the border at last.... JOSE YOU ARE OUR HERO
Jan. 22, 2020, 12:03 p.m. - Currently at a service station that is painstakingly close to the Spanish border waiting for someone who can take us near Pamplona or Zaragoza. Team 26 are also here so we've been discussing our plans moving forwards and the disasters that have fell upon our teams so far, a lot of fun but I'm sure wed both rather be moving.
Jan. 22, 2020, 9:07 a.m. - Just as another team pulled in to steal our Hitchhiking thunder at the Heavenly E70 Shell Garage we managed to get a lift to Bayonne just on the border of France! So best of luck to team 26 as they attempt to get a lift and many many thanks to the lovely Gentleman that is giving us a lift!
Jan. 22, 2020, 7:19 a.m. - Just been picked up by a lovely lady who says she will drop us off at a service station on the A63 outside Bordeux!
Jan. 22, 2020, 5:46 a.m. - Team 28: safely arrived in Bordeaux and have blagged our way onto a bus, heading towards a spot others have had luck at. Really hoping we have the same!
Jan. 22, 2020, 2:42 a.m. - Team 28 - Connor "...oh no I probably won't sleep at all on the bus"...
Happily snoring away
Jan. 22, 2020, 1:54 a.m. - Team 28- I am only one awake in bus of sleeping people :(((
Jan. 21, 2020, 11:34 p.m. - Team 28: attempting to get some sleep on the bus but not very successful so far...
Jan. 21, 2020, 9:32 p.m. - Team 28: now on the bus to Bordeaux! Have seen other teams on here also. Hopefully we get some zzzzzzs on here...!
Jan. 21, 2020, 5:04 p.m. - have had a lovely afternoon in Paris!! Sun was shining and just finishing a dinner of the best Falafel on the planet! Bus to Bordeaux comes at 11pm and we arrive at 7am, hoping to hitch out of there as soon as possible!
Jan. 21, 2020, 2:39 p.m. - Will arrive in Bordeaux in the morning... In the meantime, enjoying a baguette by the Seine!
Jan. 21, 2020, 11:32 a.m. - Out of the fog and into sunny Paris at last! Our spirits are high and we might even squeeze in some sight seeing!
Jan. 21, 2020, 10:17 a.m. - Currently sat beside Milly who is absolutely bewildered by the prospect of a double decker train. The team as a whole are very happy to be leaving the town of Arras but we are now on the way to the inescapable void that is Paris where we will spend a few hours plodding about before we attempt to head to Bordeux via bus. Many thanks to everyone following our journey so far!
Jan. 21, 2020, 9:42 a.m. - Team 28 - currently sitting in a cute little coffee shop in Arras! I felt the need to write this because I want to confess we have had to buy tickets to get into Paris at 11.17am. We've tried almost everything else but it is very difficult to get out of towns as people tend to live here rather than passing through. The others say I shouldn't feel guilty for spending money on transport but I just wanted to apologise to all the sponsors that sponsored us to do it for free. This is much harder than I thought and we are trying our very best and will try to get as far as we can. Thank you so much for donating ❤️
Jan. 21, 2020, 6:25 a.m. - Just a cheeky update, we're on a brisk thirty minute walk into Arras to get a bus South. The weather is miserable and so are we.
Jan. 21, 2020, 5:51 a.m. - we are all awake and going to walk into Arras, planning to try and blag our way onto some public transport - not sure my French will stretch to that!!
Jan. 20, 2020, 10:12 p.m. - After a long but sadly not massively successful day we have decided to bed down for the night to refresh for a hopefully more successful tomorrow!
Jan. 20, 2020, 10:08 p.m. - After getting stuck in a dead service station for 2 hours a lovely French couple picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel for the night! They even paid our toll charge for the road so a massive thanks to them!
Jan. 20, 2020, 7:38 p.m. - Arrived at service station, found a man going to Spain but he wasn't legally allowed to take hitch hikers 😕😕 waiting for our next lift!
Jan. 20, 2020, 6:26 p.m. - Team 28: My A level French is all flooding back to me and we are so grateful to have a lift to Arras from a lovely couple and their dog! Spirts were a bit low but now feeling more hopeful!
Jan. 20, 2020, 4:48 p.m. - Finally on the ferry, have found a hitch to get us out of calais, at long last we feel relief
Jan. 20, 2020, 12:59 p.m. - Contrary to popular belief (app glitch!) our team are not off the coast of Ghana but instead we have just reached Dover thanks to the assistance of a lovely Gentleman!
Jan. 20, 2020, 12:16 p.m. - Team 28 picked up from Maidstone by a lovely older man! My feet were a little chilly... Heading onto Dover now, hopefully with more luck for lifts!
Jan. 20, 2020, 10:37 a.m. - A short trek through some muddy fields and a minor escapade of saving private Connor' s shoe from a bog we have made it to Maidstone Service Station!
Jan. 20, 2020, 8:32 a.m. - Blagged a free train to Hollingbourne Station where it's a short walk through the fields to Maidstone Services.
Jan. 20, 2020, 7:08 a.m. - have woken up in Maidstone and planning to try and get a lift to the services and hopefully into France from there!
Jan. 19, 2020, 10:12 p.m. - Staying in a travelodge in Maidstone overnight. Ellie accidentally brushed her teeth with germolene.
Jan. 19, 2020, 8:45 p.m. - Found a lovely gentlemen to take us to Maidstone!
Jan. 19, 2020, 8:02 p.m. - At South mimms services, a lovely hair dresser with a banging taste in indie rock music drove us here. The wait begins for out next life!
Jan. 19, 2020, 6:26 p.m. - Arrived at Corley stations then found a lift to a station nearer the M25. Enroute.
Jan. 19, 2020, 5:35 p.m. - We flagged down a lift in McDonald's and got a McLift to a McService Station on the M6, have just set off after our driver finished his McFlurry.
Jan. 19, 2020, 2:38 p.m. - Unfortunately the wheels on the bus no longer go round and round and due to a full booking we have been asked to leave the bus in Birmingham. However, Glasgow to Birmingham is still a lot of progress so many thanks to our driver for getting us this far!
Jan. 19, 2020, 12:26 p.m. - Sleep deprivation seems to be kicking in... Milly is drooling, Connor is snoring, Ellie is hungry.
Jan. 19, 2020, 9:55 a.m. - Currently 2 hours into what could be the longest bus journey of our lives as we're finally in England having just reached Carlisle! However I Spy is getting slightly repetitive and the person sat next to us looks mildly irritated by our 6th rendition of Wheels on the Bus so if you have any suggestions to pass the time let us know!
Jan. 19, 2020, 7:56 a.m. - managed to blag our way onto a bus heading South! May be able to ride this one all the way to Oxford - kudos to a lovely bus driver!
Jan. 19, 2020, 7:23 a.m. - Team 28 have arrived in Glasgow and are busy strategising in Greggs (conveniently...!) planning on blagging our way onto a bus down south!
